A Simple Higher Health Practice

“What’s wrong with me?” used to wander its way into my mind sometimes.
Tired.
Overwhelmed.
Irritated by things that used to feel easy.
And the story given is simple.
You’re burned out.
Maybe you do what a lot of people do, and you fight against it.
Or maybe you try to fix it.
You rest more.
You try to manage your time better.
You remind yourself to slow down.
But nothing really changes.
That’s because burnout isn’t the full picture.
You’re not burned out.
You’re over capacity.
Being over capacity means your body and nervous system are holding more stress, emotion, and mental load than they can effectively process at one time.
It is not just about how much you are doing.
It includes what you are feeling, thinking, and carrying internally.
When your capacity is exceeded, your body responds with symptoms like fatigue, overwhelm, irritability, and disconnection.
Capacity is your ability to hold your life.
Not just what you’re doing (or who you’re doing, because let’s be real, capacity is ability to hold the people around us too).
Capacity is also your ability to hold what you’re feeling.
What you’re processing.
What your body is carrying.
What your nervous system is navigating at all times.
Maybe you aren’t exhausted because you’re doing too much.
You’re exhausted because you’re holding too much.
And no one ever teaches us to see that.
This is where everything starts to shift.
You can push through your schedule. Push through your to do list.
But you cannot keep pushing your nervous system without consequences.
At some point, your body will respond.
Fatigue.
Brain fog.
Irritability.
Disconnection.
Not because you’re failing.
Because your system is at its limit.
Rest matters.
But rest without awareness doesn’t change capacity.
You can take a day off and still feel overwhelmed.
You can sleep more and still wake up tired.
Because what is filling your system is still there.
Unprocessed emotion.
Unmet needs.
Chronic stress patterns.
Constant mental noise.
Capacity is not just about energy.
It is about what you are holding inside of yourself.
You can still feel exhausted after resting because rest does not remove what your body is holding.
If your nervous system is overloaded with stress, unprocessed emotion, or constant mental stimulation, your system remains overwhelmed even during rest.
True recovery happens when your internal load decreases, not just when you stop doing.
When you begin to connect with yourself, you start to see clearly.
You notice what is actually draining you.
You recognize what you’re carrying that is not yours to carry.
You become aware of where your energy is going.
And from that place, something powerful happens.
You stop trying to force your way through life.
And you start making choices that support you. Not everyone else.
You need to understand yourself. You need to know yourself.
You need to turn inward so you can see what your system is holding.
You need to create space. For yourself. Not for everyone else.
Because when your capacity expands, your health and life expand with it.
Instead of asking:
Why am I so tired?
Ask:
What am I holding right now? Do I have the capacity to hold all of it right now?
And is it aligned with who I want to be?
Because health is not about doing more. Health is about being. Being connected. Being aware. Being regulated. Being aligned. Being healthy.
It is about creating a life your system can actually hold.
You’re not broken. There’s nothing wrong with you. You’ve never been failing.
Your body is responding exactly as it was designed to.
When you learn to listen to it, everything begins to shift.
